Mental Health Awareness: Breaking Stigma and Providing Support for Refugees with Disabilities in Malawi

Umoja People With Disabilities (UPD) organized a major Mental Health Awareness event at Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

The event aimed to promote inclusion and break the stigma surrounding mental health among refugees with disabilities in Malawi.

Community Participation Through Sports and Education

    The event brought together a large number of participants from Dzaleka community through:

    • Football match with strong community engagement
    • An inter-school competition involving Umoja Secondary School and other secondary schools

    A fashion show


    These activities provided a dynamic platform for young people to express themselves while reinforcing the message of inclusion and mental health awareness.
