Fostering Disability Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress 2025

On December 3rd, 2025, UPD, in partnership with the Disability Rights Fund, proudly hosted a vibrant and impactful celebration in honor of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Under the powerful theme “Fostering Disability Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress 2025,” this event was more than just a gathering, it was a rallying call for meaningful change.

Held at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, the celebration brought together diverse personalities and communities, all united by a shared vision: to build societies where dignity, participation, and progress are accessible to everyone. The day unfolded as an inspiring showcase of creativity and resilience. Poetry readings gave voice to personal journeys; dance performances radiated joy and unity; theatre productions challenged perceptions; and football matches highlighted teamwork and skill, each activity amplifying the talents of persons with disabilities.

This event was not merely about dialogue; it was about creating real moments of connection that break barriers. It demonstrated that when we foster spaces where every individual’s abilities are recognized and celebrated, we drive social progress forward.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed, participants, organizers, supporters, for making this day a beacon of solidarity. Together, we reaffirm our commitment: disability must never be seen as inability. Let us continue building inclusive societies where everyone can lead, create, and thrive, because true progress leaves no one behind.
