UMOJA People with Disabilities is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to helping individuals with mobility challenges build better lives through social integration, skill development, and meaningful representation in all aspects of life.
UPD was founded by individuals who have personally experienced the challenges of living with disability and have been inspired by the successes of others in their professional and social lives. Motivated by a desire to replicate this success within the broader community, the idea for creating a unique organization with a specific vision emerged.
We uphold the following principles and values, and consider them the core of our existence:
The organization operates in Dzaleka refugee camp and its surrounding villages in Dowa District as a membership based organization. Based in Dowa District, UPD will have chapters in all over the regions of Malawi.
